The main reef, the strip
A reef in front of a tourist strip on the southwest of Sri Lanka. Hikkaduwa is coral peaks, a main road, a town that sells the session and the souvenir. The harbour sits at one end. The reef is close.
When.
November to April
South and southwest swell in the dry months on this coast. The monsoon flips the island.
Worth knowing.
- 1. The reef is shallow. Watch a set from the sand before the first paddle.
- 2. November to April is the window on this side. The other monsoon is a different coast.
- 3. Walk. The peak in front of the hotels is not the only reef.
- 4. Galle is the bigger town south. Colombo is the airport story.
