Lacanau-Océan, the Pro
A pine-and-sand town on the Gironde coast. Lacanau-Océan is the other French beach name besides Hossegor. A long beach, contest history, peaks that move. The Landes banks are south. This is the Gironde version of the same idea.
When.
September to March
West swell in autumn and winter. The banks move. Summer is smaller and full.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Walk. The peak in front of the frontage is not the only one.
- 2. Autumn is the window. Summer is warm water and a crowd on the bank.
- 3. Hossegor is a different department and a different trip. Do not treat them as the same beach.
- 4. Bordeaux is the city. The pine road is the last hour.
