The Bight, the camp
A remote beach on the Great Australian Bight, not a town break. Cactus is camping, dirt, and a reefy peak that people still drive days for. Ceduna is the last real shop. The water is not a postcard, and the coast is shark country.
When.
April to September
Southwest swell in winter. A small day is a long way for not much.
Worth knowing.
- 1. This is not a day trip from Adelaide. Plan the fuel and the water.
- 2. Sharks are a real part of this coast. That is the water, not a movie.
- 3. Winter is the window. Summer is often the wrong ocean for the drive.
- 4. Ceduna is the town. The camp is the rest.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
