Taito, typhoon swell
A beach on the Chiba coast, the one Tokyo names when the typhoon swell is in. Ichinomiya is Taito, tetrapods, a car park, banks that move. This is not a reef pass. It is the closest real beach many city surfers still drive for.
When.
August to October
Typhoon pulses in late summer and autumn. A quiet week is just the Chiba beach.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Typhoon season is why the name travels. A flat week is a long train for a closeout.
- 2. Walk. The peak in front of the lot is not always the one.
- 3. The tetrapods are part of the beach. They are not a point.
- 4. Tokyo is the city. The Kujūkuri coast is the last hour.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
