The Superbank, the old Kirra
The end of the Superbank. Kirra is the right that made the Gold Coast famous before the sand was pumped. When the bank is in it can run from Snapper through Rainbow and Greenmount and still have a section here. When the bank is out, it is just a corner.
When.
December to April
Southeast swell and cyclone pulses in summer. The sand has to be in.

Worth knowing.
- 1. Kirra is not Snapper. You can wait here for a wave that started a kilometre north, or you can paddle up the bank.
- 2. The sand moves. A year that looks like the poster can go quiet. Do not trust last season.
- 3. Cyclone swell is the heavy water. A small southeast day is still a fast corner.
- 4. Dawn is the only quiet hour. By mid-morning the bank is one crowd.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
