The Superbank, the Gold Coast Pro

The start of the Superbank. Snapper is a right that can run through Rainbow Bay and Greenmount toward Kirra when the sand is right. The Gold Coast pumped that sand on purpose. The contest village sits on the point. The crowd sits on every peak.

When.

December to April

Southeast swell and cyclone pulses in summer. The bank has to be in.

Worth knowing.

  1. 1. You take off at Snapper and hope the sand lets you keep going. Kirra is a different wave on a different day.
  2. 2. Dawn is the only quiet hour. By mid-morning the contest crowd and the weekend crowd are the same crowd.
  3. 3. Cyclone swell is the heavy water. A small southeast day is still a fast point.
  4. 4. If the bank is packed, Duranbah around the corner is the shorter look. Still crowded.
