La Punta, Mama Rock
A cobble right on the edge of La Libertad. Punta Roca is El Salvador's famous point, fast walls and a section they call Mama Rock. The town is a port. The walk to the takeoff is short. The lineup is not a tourist line.
When.
April to October
South and southwest swell through the northern summer. Morning offshore is the classic.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Watch a set from the path. Mama Rock is the boulder that shows at low tide. It is not a rumour.
- 2. The inside section is longer and a little softer. The top is the steep one.
- 3. This is a local point. Sit wide, wait, and do not jump the first set you see.
- 4. South swell season is the window. A small day is still a fast wall over rock.
