The Point, the bowl
A right point on the New South Wales north coast. Lennox is the one people mean when they say the Point, a long wall off the headland, a town that still feels like a town. The skate bowl sits above it. Byron is the next name north.
When.
April to September
South swell in the Australian winter. A clean morning is the one you want.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Walk the point. The first takeoff is not the only section.
- 2. Winter is the window. Summer is often the other direction.
- 3. Byron is a different bay. Do not treat them as the same morning.
- 4. The headland car park is the look. You will know the crowd before you paddle.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
