Lowers, the WSL Finals
A cobblestone peak south of San Clemente. Lower Trestles is Lowers, the wave the WSL Finals moved to. Fast, rippable, a right and a left off the same bar. You walk in from the trail. The car park is a hike, not a drop-off. The lineup is a contest even when there is no contest.
When.
June to October
South swell in summer and autumn. West swell works too when the angle is right.

Worth knowing.
- 1. The walk from Cristianitos or the Trestles trail is the way in. There is no beach parking on top of the peak.
- 2. Dawn patrol is the only hour that feels open. Midday on a south swell is a heat without a siren.
- 3. Uppers is often a little less of a zoo. Still a good wave. Still crowded.
- 4. Summer south swell is the classic. A small day is still a fun cobble peak.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
