Right pointIntermediateMixed
Gnaraloo, the long right
A long right at the north end of Gnaraloo Bay, on a station coast north of Carnarvon. North Point is walls that keep going when the southwest is on. The camp is the town. The reef is the rest of the conversation.
When.
April to September
Southwest swell in winter. A clean morning before the wind is the classic.
Worth knowing.
- 1. This is a station road, not a day trip from Perth. Bring fuel and water.
- 2. Watch a set from the point. You can pick a section. You do not have to take off at the top.
- 3. Winter is the window. Summer is wind and a smaller wave.
- 4. The reef is sharp and the inside goes dry. Watch the tide before you commit to a long one.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
