The Eddie, the north point
The bay on the North Shore that taught the world what big wave meant. Waimea breaks off the north point when the rest of the reef is closing out. The Eddie waits for this water. Most days you watch from the sand. The shorebreak will still take a board.
When.
November to February
Northwest swell in winter. It has to be a real pulse. A small day here is just a bay.

Worth knowing.
- 1. Watch a set from the beach before you think about paddling. The scale is the first lesson.
- 2. Pinballs is the smaller look along the rocks. The Point is the one on the posters.
- 3. The shorebreak is its own wave. It is not a warm-up.
- 4. Parking on Kamehameha Highway fills when it is on. Walk in. Do not leave bags in the car.
