Costa Azul, hurricane swell
The beach in front of Costa Azul, San José del Cabo, not the corridor hotels. Zippers is a right that lights on a hurricane pulse, a sand peak by the resorts, a name people still use when the south is in. Los Cabos is the town. This is the peak.
When.
July to October
South and hurricane swell in late summer. A small day is just the resort beach.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Hurricane season is why the name exists. Winter northwest is a different ocean here.
- 2. The peak sits in front of Costa Azul, not the airport side of the corridor.
- 3. Watch a set from the sand. The inside can dump.
- 4. San José is the town. Cabo San Lucas is the other end of the strip.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
