Azuero, the consistent beach
A horseshoe of dark sand on the south tip of the Azuero. Playa Venao is Panama's consistent beach town. Camps, a long shore, peaks that spread the crowd. Santa Catalina is the heavier point. This is the one that works more often.
When.
April to October
South and southwest swell. The bay holds a lot of directions. Mornings are cleaner.
Worth knowing.
- 1. Walk. The peak in front of the camps is not the only one.
- 2. The west end of the bay gets more size when the south is on.
- 3. Pedasí is the nearest town with a bank and a bigger shop.
- 4. Santa Catalina is the other Azuero trip. A different wave, a longer road.
Go.
Before you paddle.
- 1. Check local conditions before entering
- 2. Always surf with a buddy
- 3. Know your limits and skill level
- 4. Watch for rip currents
- 5. Respect local surfers and rules
